Presenters’ Bio

Dr. Merve Selçuk

Dr. Merve Selçuk is an Assistant Professor of TESOL with over twenty-five years of experience in language assessment and teacher education. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles published in indexed journals and is the co-author of Language Assessment in 50 Questions (2023). Dr. Selçuk has presented her work at national and international conferences and has delivered invited workshops, roadshow trainings, and talks on language assessment. She currently serves as a consultant on two national high-stakes EFL exam development projects. A graduate of Middle East Technical University with a PhD in English Language Teaching, she has completed advanced international training programmes in language assessment with EALTA (University of Helsinki; Stranmillis University College), ALTE (Dante Alighieri Society; Charles University, ILTA (University of Auckland), and Lancaster, Innsbruck, and Leiden universities. She currently serves as the Director of the School of Foreign Languages at istanbul Bilgi University, teaches Language Assessment at the MA level, and works independently as a language assessment

 

Dr. Taner Yapar

Taner Yapar holds a Master’s degree in Measurement and Evaluation in Education from Middle East Technical University and a Ph.D. in Measurement and Evaluation from Hacettepe University.

Taner has over two decades of experience in leadership, language education, and assessment. Since 2010, he has been leading the Department of Foreign Languages at TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETÜ), where he also actively teaches in the university’s English preparatory program.

His professional and academic interests include assessing the four core language skills, performance evaluation, test reliability and validity, item response theory, and educational statistics. Taner is dedicated to supporting educators and institutions in enhancing their language teaching and assessment practices to improve learning outcomes.

 

Dr. Ayşegül Sallı

 

Ayşegül Sallı is an Assistant Professor at Eastern Mediterranean

University, North Cyprus, with over 20 years of experience as an English language teacher, teacher trainer, and mentor. She leads the Professional Development Unit at the Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School and teaches in the English Language Teaching Department. Her professional interests include technology- enhanced language teaching, and continuous professional development,.

 

Hande Dağıstan

She graduated from METU Foreign Language Education in 2012 and has been working at TOBB ETÜ since 2014. She has served in the Measurement and Evaluation Unit since 2016 and is currently pursuing an MA in Measurement and Evaluation at Ankara University. She has co-authored several YÖKDIL test preparation books. Her professional interests include language assessment, assessment literacy,

 

Ali Emre Karagül

Ali Emre Karagül is an educational data scientist, educator,   eveloper specializing in psychometrics  andstatisticalmodeling. At TOBB ETÜ, he contributes to test development, statistical modeling, and English language instruction. His research interest is in the reliable and validated use of machine learning, natural language processing, and large language models in the realm of educational assessment.
