In order to truly transform educational practice, “program evaluation” and “research” must be combined into a process that is both inductive and deductive. This can be done through “action research”. Action research is structured to solve an immediate problem of practice, informed by data through an inquiry process of progressive problem solving, and led by individuals working with others as part of a community of practice. Community-based participatory action research (CBPAR) can lead to significant social and educational change.
This webinar will help participants set up the foundation of a CBPAR project: 1) defining a problem of practice, centered on SLOs; and 2) building a conceptual framework which can guide transformative data collection and analysis. Small group activities will encourage and enhance active participation and growth.
