OpenAI’s decision to launch ChatGPT free to the public in November 2022 has made artificial intelligence a frequently referred to concept in everyday life, including among practitioners and scholars in language education. This session will explore how ChatGPT can revolutionize English language instruction, empowering teachers to design effective lessons and access professional assistance. The session will also highlight how ChatGPT can help teachers create an immersive and interactive learning environment by showcasing its various capabilities and practical applications at every stage of classroom teaching.
Dr. Hakan TARHAN is a lecturer and PD facilitator in the Department of Foreign Languages at TOBB University of Economics and Technology. He holds BA, MA, and PhD degrees in English Language Teaching from Middle East Technical University. His research focuses on language teacher education, teacher mentoring, applied linguistics, and qualitative inquiry.
